Reading

Last week was a stressful week at work. One night after work when I got off at like 7 PM I stopped in at Borders. I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to get. I had a few ideas. I looked around for 20 minutes or so and decided to take my sisters advice. She was or had read the House of Night Series. I bought Book 1 (i think there are 7 total) and started reading it. I wasn't too sure about it. It was good but I wasn't hooked until a day or two ago. It's 1:30 in the morning. I just finished it and can't wait to get book 2. Love reading. Why I ever hated it, I wish I knew.

Also. I highly recommend the Hunger Games. If you haven't read it, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's emotional yes, but stick through it. :)

PS - If anyone wants to buy this book from me I'll give you a great deal!

The big 27....

Today is my birthday. It was a great day so far. Started out by getting my first gift last night at midnight. I got a remote start for my jeep! I am so stoked! I used to park in the Garage when I owned our house so it sucks to scrap my windows and have to start my car or drive in the cold! So excited!!! Then I got donuts for work (not for my birthday but because it's friday and we do treats every friday). There was a "Happy Birthday" sign on my door and a card on my desk. Love my co-workers. I went to lunch with my best friend to Olive Garden. I got two sets of flowers delivered to work. They are beautiful!! Then I got some new shoes from my mom, two pairs. I went to a craft fair with my mom and sister and my mom bought me some jewelry. Then off to dinner with my friends. Texas Roadhouse. I said I'd only go there IF... I didn't have ride the saddle... well I did. It's been a great day. I'm going out on Sunday with my family. So it'll be a good weekend. Just another year older. But this year was the first birthday without Jason and his family and it was actually really hard. I did get a card in the mail from his parents. I know we are divorced but I still love and miss his family dearly. But none the less my day was great and I'm off to go do more fun adventures, maybe a movie?

Craft...

I went shopping with my mom and sister yesterday and actually found alot of things I want to buy... One however I decided to make. So today I drew this by hand and my dad helped me get it all cut out. I painted many coats and then put it together. My dad helped me make it look great though! he's so creative. I love it. I think i'm taking it to work for my desk.

Life.

I'm so slacking on posting to this blog or doing anything online lately. I have been working a ton and life has been a little stressful and crazy. So... here's my update!

Work: is still crazy! I worked till 9 last night till 8 tonight and like 6:30 or something on tuesday. It goes in spans though. Some weeks I work 7:30 till 5 or 6 but this week there is lots to do! I love my job. Even as busy and as stressful as it may be some days. I intimately want to go to work every single day. I enjoy what I do and the people that are there are great!

Dance: We are almost ready for the November fest at coming up in a few weeks. Exciting. I am now only teaching monday and wednesday because work is so busy i have tuesdays and thursdays to catch up.

Dating: WHY IS IT SO COMPLICATED??? Ugh. I almost think being single forever would be ok. Except for the lonely feeling I get all the time. I need a companion. But really? Drama Drama Drama and I'm not really looking for a serious relationship right now but all the "just dating" relationships are filled with more complications than I am beginning to think I can handle.

Living: I am still at my mom's, although I think I see her maybe 2 or 3 days a week. Her and my dad go to bed early and I'm a night owl. They get up before me and I usually get home after they have went to bed. But I do like it for a few reasons. They take care of Max for me while I'm gone. Poor guy. He is so lonely sometimes too. It's good for him to play with Quincy. I really do like having or knowing that I'm not the only one home, unlike if I got my own place. Their house is central. Easy to get to and go basically anywhere and it's close to town.

Max: oh poor guy. I got his hair cut before halloween and he was so matted they cut it way short! He looks good but I'm sure he is freezing outside now with the cold.
Quincy and Max - before Hair Cut

Max, Quincy and I after hair cut

Time of Year: I love this time of year. I love the fall. I'm so excited for the Holidays! I bought my snowboarding season pass to Beaver and can't wait to use it! I'd better get my money's worth! :) I'm sure I will. Matt, a really good friend at work, will ensure we get our money's worth! I hope I improve. I just gotta not be scared to try something new!

Boat: The boat is winterized and covered. With a motor heater no cracks in the block this year!

Books: I read The Hunger Games... LOVED IT! I bought the Box Set and would highly recommend this series to anyone.

Well that's about all my brain can take tonight. Quite the update right? Well it's something.

Food for thought...

So I used to keep a journal. I was really good back in highschool / middle school. I somewhat updated in college and during married life. I know I wrote in it before I got divorced but I'm not sure about after. I went to do a journal entry (Lately i've been using the blog as a quick journal post but somethings I just don't want to share with everyone) and i can't find my latest journal. I'm bugged. I have like 4. One's full. The other two in my drawer are empty. The one I know i wrote in last is missing, I know what it looks like but I can't find it. Should I start writing in one of the others or keep looking till i find it? And another thought... why is it missing? i always keep them in the same spot. Even after moving out from my house in Nibley. Ugh.

Tag - your it!

I got tagged to do this, so i hope who i tag will do it as well!!! I answer these 8 questions, make up 8 new questions... tag 8 people and they HOPEFULLY will answer the 8 new ones!

The questions I have to answer:
1. Post your favorite picture and explain way
My entire family at my Grandpa's Funeral in April. If you know me you know I'm a picture finatic. I have hundreds of pictures i love. I had a really hard picking just one. Most of them occur sometime in the last ten or so years. Most i have on my computer are in the last few years. Some I had to hold myself back from picking because they are too emotional to me right now. Even though seeing this picture makes me cry. It's the one I pick.
2. your Dream Vacation
Ah. Hard one. There are sooo soo many neat places in the world I would love to go see. My ideal DREAM vacation would be to a tropical island like Tahiti or Hawaii (yes even though i've been there lots!) or something similar. I'm always up for a new adventure or to relive my favorite place on earth... Maui... would be great too!
3. favorite thing about your pet
He makes me smile every day.
4. one of your biggest pet peeves
Lazy people
5. favorite nursery rhyme and why
Ugh. I have no idea. Um... Humpty Humpty - it's easy and all I can think of at the moment.
6. Biggest accomplishment
Graduating from College with my Bachelors Degree
7. one goal for the next year
Get closer to my family like I was a year or two ago
8. wish list for santa this christmas
Ah man Shayna - you have hard questions! I have no idea what I want. To be healthy, read a new good book, clothes, a new house would be great, new snowboard boots, vacation, i dunno!
I tag...
Jenny Bott
Trisha Jones
Trissy Gwilliam
MacKenzie Losee
Jennifer Williams
Alli Damraur
Brooke Sanders
My questions....
1. What's your favorite color?
2. What season is your favorite and why?
3. What book are you reading?
4. Thing you miss the most from your childhood.
5. Do you collect anything?
6. What are you dressing up for Halloween as?
7. What is your favorite restaurant?
8. What's your lucky number?

Boat Motor

Well this summer has been quite lacking - NO BOATING!!! :( I'm mad and so disappointed about it too. June had been quite rainy so by the end of June when it started to get nice I was ready to go boating. We tested the motor before we went out and found out i had a bad battery or it just wasn't charged. We charged it and tried again. After getting another battery to jump it, it worked. We decided to head to Hyrum for a cruise. We got out there took a min to jump the battery again and it started. I went driving and picked a friend up on the dock. We were just lightly crusing around Hyrum being the first time on the water in maybe 9 or 10 months when all of a sudden the boat motor stopped. I thought it was the battery but little did I know. We opened the motor compartment and WOW - FULL OF WATER. We were taking on water. It was not a good thing. My friend with me was a mechanic so he knew we were either looking at a crack or the freeze plug. We got a tow to the dock and swam the boat onto the trailer. Not an easy thing to do. Got it home and looked at it briefly. A freeze plug had popped out. We bought a new one and installed it. Decided we needed to give the motor a good look over before taking it out again. WELL... We found a CRACK in the block. That means the motor was not winterized before last winter. Which means water was in the motor and froze. :( UGH. Took the block into Horsepower farm to be rebuilt. While it was there i upgraded it to a 350 HP motor instead of a 305. Not a huge difference but more power is always better. Well 2 months later I got the block back. (They quoted 2 weeks). Also the price was double what they quoted. I'm not too happy about it but I want my boat back! My friend and I spent prob 12-15 hours on reinstalling it and putting the top back on. Now it's ready to test and all I need to do that is a new battery. Always something! So hopefully before it snows i'll be able to get it in the water and test the bran new motor and ensure that it works! I'm sure it does just need to confirm. Ah the joys of owning toys. :( Always costing money.

The cracked block

Andy installing the motor. One of many nights of working on the boat.

Jack Johnson Concert

Went to the Jack Johnson concert back on Aug 13th! It was alot of fun. Megan, Clarence, Me, Logan, Logan's Sister, Andy and Maria went. We ate at the Old Spagehti factory - YUM. We sat on the grass and had a great time!

Update

Wow. Life has been so busy lately. Well I've decided to keep my blog public for a while. We'll see how that goes.

Just a quick update on my life...

  • Still working - Over time is a yes every week!
  • Dance started last week - going good so far!
  • Dating - Hum... it's weird to date again, but I've met a few really great guys. Excited to see where it goes. Went to Bear Lake and Lagoon this last weekend and had a blast! Went go karting for the first time ever a few weeks ago on a date, it was awesome! I guess I'm getting to experience some fun new things and meet new people. Can't argue with that.
  • Living at home - yup still there!
  • Max - he's still a little trouble maker! But i love him.
  • Fishing - went fishing out to Hyrum dam a few weeks ago with my best friend. We caught quite a few Perch. It was a great time. I need to get out and go more often!
  • Boat - The boat is almost up and running. The motor is rebuilt and installed. Now i need a new battery and we'll be able to start it up and see if the motor runs. Oh the joys of owning toys. I need to become a mechanic so i can work on it!
  • Family update - my little sister is PREGNANT! yay! I'm very excited for her and Brady! I can't wait to be an aunt to the new little one. After two miscarriages i'm excited she's doing better on this one!
  • Vacation?? - I'm thinking I need a vacation. Not sure where to though. I'm working on getting my passport just to have. Although I'm not sure I can afford a vacation until I've paid for the boat motor. Dang!
  • Fall - I'm so excited for fall and that means Christmas is just around the corner! ;)

Private or Public?

I hate this post. I have many friends who have private blogs. I know the pros about being private. I'm seriously considering it but can't get myself to do it. I could post so many more pictures of my neices and nephews if my blog was private. I wouldn't have to worry about my sister worrying! ha ha. Plus I know there's some weirdo's out there and I can definatly control who looks at my blog by being private. but really? Private just sucks.

So what do you think? Go Private or just deal with being public?

Work @ Hycomp

Work has been CRAZY busy lately. I worked 12.5 hours yesterday, 9.5 today. Would have stayed even later but we had a Company BBQ we had to get it. It's good to be busy! I know we'll be busy for quite a while. Last week I didn't leave work before 6 every night and this week has been the same. Over time! Well the hours suck when I have plans but since I'm such the busy body lately (that was sarcastic) I actually don't mind being at work. I guess I've been told I'm a work-a-holic before and it's kinda true. I love my job. Busy or not!

Relay for Life - 2010

Our "FISH FIGHT" team for William Riggs did an amazing job at the relay for life! We raised about $3300, I'm still waiting on the last donations to be posted. The relay went awesome! We had everyone show up to walk plus some! It was a long 24 hours, being the only one that stayed over night but it was worth it. Nicole Riggs won the prize for walking the longest distance. I lost count but i think she did about 40 laps! That's 10 miles. Jaycie, who's 9, did 7 miles! AWESOME! Thanks to everyone who helped out by donating, sponsoring and walking! We'll hope to see you all next year!

4th of July

I watched the fireworks with my mom, sister, niece, nephews and Alexis and her family. Jaycie and I had a blast!

Father's Day

We spent father's day with my whole family at my Aunt's house, celebrating the father's we have and remembering my grandpa on this first father's day with out him. I love my dad so much. He's such a goofy and fun father and is always playing Mr. Fix it. I hope someday when I have kids they have a father that's just like him. I hope all those that are father's out there had a great day as well. Even if this is late.

Bear Lake

The girls and kids took a day off work and headed to Bear Lake a few weeks ago. It wasn't very warm and it was kinda cloudy so we didn't stay long. We wore sweatshirts most of the time. We came home and took my niece and nephews to Toy Story 3. We all loved it.

Arizona

I spent 4 days in June in Scottsdale, Arizona with my friend Allisen from middle/high school. I landed at 10 pm and it was 105 deg. It was a hot but very fun weekend! We tubed this huge river, it took about 4-5 hours. It was very relaxing. We bar hopped a little and got a feel for the town. I was able to lay out, however 5 minutes in that 110 deg sun and I had to dip in the cool pool. I loved Scottsdale. Can't wait to go back.

RAGNAR RULES!

Team Name: If we weren't all crazy we'd all go insane. (From a Jimmy Buffet song).

Now I can officially say I have entered and conquered the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay. That last 4.2 mile leg was the most difficult time of my life. It was 80 degrees outside, I was already sunburned, already ran 2 other legs, was working on a little less than 2 hours of sleep and starting to cramp up - However I only walked a short 50 feet maybe and I completed it! YEAH! Our team started at 8 AM on friday morning and finished sometime around 3:30 PM on Saturday! That runs us as a team at just barely over a 10 minute mile for 189.7 miles. Originally it was 188.2 however last minute they bumped Robert's last 2200 foot climb DOWN 5.1 miles into about 6.6 miles so it totalled 189.7 total miles that our 12 runner team completed. One of the amazing things - each runner ran their own legs the entire race. Not once did anyone have to fill in to complete a leg. My boss said that's the 1st time in 3 years that he's seen that, add on the great time = success! We rock. We actually came in about 1 minute behind a team that started at 5 AM on saturday. Pretty rockn. I had a blast. I was the only female in our van (van #2). Van 1 had 2 males and 5 females. I feel like this was such an accomplishment. I have never trained for running in my life - it wasn't fun but so rewarding to be able to say I've done it, and I did it with no help! That was my only goal, to just finish. I know I ran slow but I was ok with that. I have about 173 pictures and I need to get pictures from the other runners so here's my FAVORITE picture.

Van #2 Rocks - Robert (my boss, runner 11), Pete (works with me, runner 8), Andy (works with me, runner 9), Stacey (me, runner 7), Brian (a friend of Robert's neighbor, runner 12), Roger (works with me, our AWESOME driver and support help), and Spencer (works with me, runner 10).

Check out the ragnar website to see what legs we had to run if you want!

May 2010 Card Club

May was the second month of our Card Club. Here's the post on the cards for the month. The theme was Wedding! Vote for your FAVORITE card!! The card club members still vote and their vote will count as two votes, all others will only count as 1. (Thus giving the club members vote a little more weight). Voting on the blog is only open for 2 days to count, so if no one on the blog votes then only the votes of the club members will count. So blog voting goes from Today (sunday) until Tuesday.

Again, pictures don't really do the cards justice but it's all I've got!
