Beaver Mountain Bash

A few guys at my work decided to do the Beaver Mountain Box Car Derby on Saturday. This was the 1st annual derby at Beaver. It actually was a lot of fun. The rules were cardboard, string and tape only. The guys worked on the car the past week during lunch, breaks and after work. The owner, Robert, sponsored the guys and paid the $20 entry fee. Larry, Andy, Matt B, and Matt L were the "Hycomp Derby Team". Larry helped build the car and the other 3 were the official riders. The boys did really well. They were super fast and we think they won, however unfair judging played a part and they didn't win the $200. Their box stayed in tact the entire way down. They even went through the barrier at the end, over the hill, and kept going toward the face lift. If there were a prize for the farthest distance they would have gotten it! Here's some picture of the process of creating, and running the car as well as a video link to you tube.

it's done! WN150 is the largest compressor model Hycomp makes.

Saturday they also did the Pond Skim. Matt Logan is pictured below. He made 2 crosses, the 3rd one he fell in. It was a fun day!

New Chapter

Well it's officially time to start a new chapter in life. Jason's and my divorce decree was approved and signed by the judge on Wednesday March 17th (St. Patrick's Day). It was 10 days before our 6 year anniversary would have hit, weird to me.

It's a hard time in life right now, but I'm very relieved to have it over with. I'm extremely surprised we didn't have to wait the mandatory 90 days the state of Utah requires, (I guess my 90 day waiver I filled out was done correctly and I had some good info/requests on there).

So time to start something new, but what? Ugh. Being single, oh the joys I'm so not looking forward to. Since the last time I dated which was over 7 years ago time has really changed things. I hear the new "in" thing is online dating, weird.

I'm very appreciative that our divorce went so smooth. Jason and I basically got along really well throughout the entire thing, a few minor fights and one big stressful event but other than that we were able to agree and do everything on our own. No lawyers involved and I did all the paperwork online by myself. Piece of cake. Not that I ever want to go through this again but it is nice to know that not all divorces end in the "I hate them" mode or go through the "I'm going to screw them over" idea. I still talk to Jason and have a feeling I most likely will continue to do so. We just had our differences and I chose to go my own way. I am appreciative of all the support I've had from family and friends as well as Jason's cooperation.

I've learned lately that looking on the bright side of things isn't always easy but it sure does make life more livable.

Blog 10 - Tagged!

My aunt finally does a blog post after 6 months.. (he he get going Aunt Beth!!) and she tags me.

So the deal is this, I just have to write 10 honest things about myself. Honest and somewhat surprising or entertaining. After my 10, I get to tag people. So here goes.....

1. I love my dog. Max is my best friend. He's always SOO excited to see me when I get home. He makes me laugh and smile everyday. He is so mischievous and such a trouble maker but I sure do love him! He can make a bad day better just by being himself. He's gotten so big since I first got him but I love him just the same.

2. I love my parents. They are both special people to me that I can't even being to explain how much I love and appreciate them for being the way they are. I currently live with them again and it's not as bad as I would have expected. My mom is so easy to talk to and we love our lunch dates. My dad is Mr. Fix it and his motto is "there's nothing I can't fix". He has this HILARIOUS broken leg walk that he does. He makes me laugh!

3. My sisters are AMAZING! They mean so much to me. I'm so glad they are great friends of mine. I could go on for days about them but I'll leave it short.

4. I love Snowboarding! I'm not that great but I sure enjoy hitting the mountain with the guys at work.

5. I collect shot glasses. I started this back oh prob 13 years ago or more. I have over 150 from so many places I can't even name them all. I don't have one from every state in the US yet but I do have many countries and quite a few from different states. I love this collection. I had a friend of mine make this shot glass self. It houses my most precious collection. Ok one of them.

6. Scrapbooking. I'm addicted. Easy as that.

7. I'm a Utah State Graduate with a Bachelors of Science degree which I don't even use at my job. I'm a true aggie and proud of it!

8. I love my job! I do document control at Hycomp. It's being getting more and more busy but I love it. Keeps me on my toes and I am continually learning something new. This is what we build...

9. Friends are so important to me.

10. I am me. Plain and simple. I make mistakes but I learn from them. I've learned life is hard. It's never what I expect it to be. The last 6 months have prob been the hardest in my life. I've lived, learned and loved but never with this much pain. I have learned that life can go on. That I will survive. That those that really love and care about me are there for me no matter what's going on in life. That I will cherish every memory I have, forever. For those memories are what shaped my life and the way I am today.

Ok Tags.. Since 5 of the people I would have tagged are already tagged by my aunt I hope these people see that they are tagged...

Trissy Gwilliam, Stephanie Hendrickson, Tara Callaway, Jennifer Williams, Mackenzie Loose, Allison Damraur, Kodi Elison, and Mandy Durham

Weekend Recap

This weekend was a busy one. Friday night I scrapbooked from 5-7 by my self and then from 7 to 10:30 with my two sisters. It was great! We are going to try to scrapbook more often. I'm also in the process of making some layouts for our stamp n scrap nights we will be having coming up soon. Here's a sneak peak at one of the layouts. If any of you are interested it's $5 a layout (for a two page layout) or $20 for 5 (you get one free). You come put it together with a sample so you can really customize it to your pictures or copy it exactly like the sample layout. I'm excited! My sisters talked me into this because they can have a hard time creating a layout idea and they are ALWAY looking through my scrapbook and coping pages that I did.

Then I played with max for a while. Max got these AWESOME squeaky tennis balls from Jason's parents for Christmas and he JUST LOVES THEM!

Saturday I went to lunch with the girls... mom, steph, shayna, grandma, jaycie, (ok and Dylan and Steven too). We went to Angies. Great lunch! Right when we sat down Jaycie spilt her water and it went ALL down the front of me and into my purse. She felt bad. It was kinda funny but I looked like I'd pee'd my pants! Then I took max for a walk. And fell asleep around 5 till after 9. Long and much needed nap.

Sunday was good too! My new nephew got blessed and my sister had a brunch at her house after. He's getting soo big! He's a handsome little man. Sunday afternoon I took another nap :)! Then games and watched The Da Vinci Code. I liked the movie, however after reading the book the book is MUCH better and I was able to pick out alot of stuff that they left out or did differently.

It was quite the weekend. Up Next... Wendover with by brother-in-law... We'll see if it actually happens!

A little bit of an update...

I finally got max groomed! Boy was he in need of a trim! He's so skinny with no hair and he shivers ALL the time now. Makes me feel bad that I had them cut all his fur off but he definalty needed it!

Megan's birthday was last week. We went bowling and had cake at her house.

I finally had my eyes checked and yup i need glasses. I went shopping for some this last weekend and found a few i really liked... WOW, EXPENSIVE! So till I can afford some nice glasses I bought contacts (yeah they don't last as long but short term they were cheaper and I got colored... GREEN!) I look like crap in this picture because it's right after dance but my eyes are green not blue anymore!
