Happy Valentine's Day

One of my favorite girls is in these photos! Kira is growing up so fast and growing into a sweet girl. She's so helpful for us, super smart and learns so fast. She has quite the girly personality and loves loves loves her dad. She loves to be all girl including make up, dresses, princesses, pink, purple and more. She isn't always keen on doing pictures but when I talk her into them we sometimes struggle to capture a REAL smile. She likes to giggle and full out laugh in front of the camera instead of smile. The struggle is real, but I think we managed to get some great shots of her during her valentine's mini session this weekend.

Happy Valentine's from my family to yours.

Winter 4x4 Jamboree

A copy over from my Photography Blog...
The Tuesday Ten

Today's Tuesday Ten is a personal Post. Just over a week ago we took a quick weekend getaway and headed south to St George / Hurricane area. We attended an event called Winter 4x4 Jamboree. After attending this even for three years, the event has become one of our favorites to attend with the jeep. If you own a jeep or side by side you need to go to Hurricane! Here's 10 of my favorites from our trip.

1. No Work :) okay. I know that's not super awesome but seriously anytime we can get away from work for a couple of days it's sure for a good time.
2. Family Time. We are lucky to have family that enjoy this sport and attend events with us. Andy's parents bring their jeep with us all the time and it's always a blast seeing what we can do. Our jeep is the one and theirs is the red one in this picture.

3. Warm Weather - There was NO snow! In the middle of winter in Cache Valley what's better than a warm climate and destination with no snow? It wasn't amazing and hot weather like I really wanted but it was warmer than Cache Valley by a long shot!

4. Obstacles - We have had a blast finding some awesome obstacles to adventure to/over. We did a trail on Friday called "Renegade" which basically took our small group around to some fun obstacles from different trails. It was awesome and we loved seeing the different rigs drive the lines. From one rig to the next they can do entirely different things, it all depends on where you drive.

5. Tipping Action - On that same trail we also saw some Tipping Action. This white jeep (not mine) almost tipped over a couple of times at the end of this run. What you don't see in the photo below is the 20 foot nearly vertical climb this rig just took. They were a little tippy at the very top so about 4 guys or more ended up grabbing on, jumping on and helping the jeep make it without tipping. Fun stuff to watch but can be scary!

6. Scenery - Sand Hollow area is beautiful and the scenery changes from red rock to sand and even water.

7. Time with my Hubby -  I love that Andy and I get to do this hobby together. We have a blast and I'm so lucky to have gotten into it with his help.

8. Time with Kira - We've been fortunate to take Kira with us the last 2 years. It's always fun to have her with us on vacation and she loves that Grandma and Grandpa go with us. Her favorite part is the sand. She could stop and play in the sand all day long!

9. Raffle - The event does a raffle Saturday night and it's usually fun to attend. Last year I won my bumper and the year before that I won some lights, a lift kit, and more. This year I was not as lucky and came home empty handed... BUT the money goes for a good cause to help them keep the lands open for public use.

10. Dinner - The event always does a dinner as well. It's usually a BBQ dinner and has been pretty tasty. It's a great way to get to know people in the industry. We always run into people from Cache Valley while we are there.

Midway Ice Castles

A copy over from my Photography blog...
The Tuesday Ten

Another personal post for this weeks Tuesday Ten. A couple of weeks ago we headed down to the Midway Ice Castles. It's been on my bucket list for a few years and I was thrilled when we got to go this year. We got online to book the day before we went and I couldn't believe it, nearly the entire day was SOLD OUT. We managed to get tickets for Andy's family to go at 2:30 pm. It wasn't the ideal time but we booked it anyways. It was fabulous and I had a blast. It was actually REALLY fun to take my camera and get some amazing shots during this family outing. These days taking my "nice" camera is rare for family events. So enjoy... 10 reasons I loved this place.

1. BEAUTIFUL - There's just something cool about ice. Pair that with actual structures and it's brilliant! The ice created castles are beautiful and amazing. They aren't as large as I was expecting but there is some serious talent put into creating this masterpiece.

2. Man made - All the ice castles are man made. They put blocks of ice and then PVC pipe with water to create a castle. Really cool and you can tell a lot of hard work went into the structures.

3. Family Friendly - It is definitely a place to take your kids. The kids loved walking around the snow and through all the structures.

4. Slot Canyon - The slot canyon was my favorite part! It's a cool narrow alley of ice. We went in that section twice. Took our time the second time while the kids were waiting in line for the slide, totally made it better!

5. Ice formations - The ice hanging from the ceiling and structures is weird, eerie and amazing all in one.

6. Slides - They have two slides that even the adults went down.

 7.  Close to home - This trip could totally be done in a day drive. We stayed at Andy's sister's house that night as they are only about 20-30 minutes away. We got there a little before our allotted time and stayed about an hour and a half.

8. Downfall - Ok so there is a downfall.  It was BUSY. Like really busy. But we managed to see everything we wanted so it didn't affect it too much. The line for the large slide was LONG and took about 45 minutes to get to the front.

9. Night Time vs Day Time - We went during the day again because we couldn't go at night. However, if I had the choice I think I'd rather see these things at night. They get lit up with colored lights and they play music. Seems kinda fun!

10. Frozen - We got to see the Frozen Characters and the kids LOVED it. We were lucky to see them when we did as we were the last people before they were taking their break.
